Bonds, Chemical Bonds :)

Many times, during chemistry, it is difficult to understand the chemical bonds.
So instead of thinking of the electrons as electrons, think of them as friends. And instead of thinking of the atoms themselves as atoms, think of them as groups of friends.

Here are some basic definitions or classifications of the bonds:
ionic = electrons are gained/lost
covalent = electrons are shared
metallic = bonding between metals when the atoms are joined together so that electrons are able to move freely from atom to atom

Here are some ways to remember them:
ionic = think of friends that are only part of one group of friends
covalent = think of friends that spend equal time in each group of people (clique)
metallic = think of people (friends) that wander around freely chatting with everyone

Negative and Positive Numbers

When you are first learning to use negative numbers, it can be difficult. For example, 3- (-3) = 6, but at first, it is hard to master the fact that a negative and a negative makes a positive.
So, here is an easy way to remember.
Negative = Enemy
Positive = Friend

A friend of your friend is a friend ( adding a positive number equals a positive)
A friend of your enemy is an enemy ( adding a negative number equals negative)
An enemy of your enemy is your friend (subtracting a negative number equals postive)

Hope it helps!

Hello!

Hello!
My brother and I created this blog to post easy techniques for remembering math and science concepts. We'll have simple analogies or comparisons for you to remember them!!
Enjoy!
